About the Author
Archie D. Nettles Jr. is a proud Army veteran, public speaker, community leader, and children’s book author with a heart for big dreams and hardworking hands.
A Beaumont, Texas native, Archie enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 18 and served eight years in Active Duty and Reserve service, including a deployment to Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom, where he achieved the rank of Sergeant.
After completing his military service, he transitioned to civilian life in Dallas, Texas, where he earned his degree in Public Administration from the University of Texas at Dallas. Committed to serving beyond the uniform, Archie founded A.D. Nettles LLC, a platform where he brings passion and purpose to every presentation. Through partnerships with schools, churches, and nonprofits, he equips families and students with resources on college and workforce readiness, leadership, financial literacy, and veteran support. His message has reached audiences across Texas through more than 100 workshops and keynote engagements.
Archie’s debut children’s book and brand, Trades to the Rescue: When the Lights Go Out, is a heartfelt tribute to his late father, Archie D. Nettles Sr., his uncle Benny Nettles Sr., and his grandfather Hillman Guillory men who worked with pride, and purpose. He also honors his grandfather Ardie Nettles, his uncle Troy Dent, and other family members who continue to embody grit, wisdom, and quiet strength.
His stories celebrate curiosity, community, and the belief that the future isn’t inherited—it’s built. To every child who dares to ask, “How does that process work?” thank you for lighting the path.
